All New 2019 RANGE ROVER P400E Plug-In Hybrid

Although Land Rover’s flagship Range Rover and rakish Range Rover Sport have been given a mild yet thoughtfully executed makeover for the 2018 model year, the big news is under the skin. For the 2019 model year, both will be available with Land Rover’s first plug-in hybrid powertrain, and our first drive of the 2019 Land Rover Range Rover P400e suggests it’s worth the wait.

The 2018 Range Rover and 2018 Range Rover Sport get exterior upgrades that include new headlights, grilles, and front bumpers. Both have new seats inside, and both get a version of the high-tech dual-screen center stack that made its debut in the Range Rover Velar.

The first thing you notice about the new Range Rover plug-in hybrid is … nothing at all. There’s no additional flap in the bodywork for a charge port and not a single hybrid badge anywhere on the car. The charge port is hidden behind a cleverly disguised flap on the left-hand side of the grille. A tiny “P400e” badge under the HSE model designation is the only visible clue to the first hybrid powertrain in Land Rover’s 70-year history.

Land Rover’s PHEV powertrain is composed of a 296-hp version of JLR’s 2.0-liter turbo-four gas engine and a 114-hp electric motor fed by a 13.1-kW-hr lithium-ion battery mounted under the rear loadspace floor. Total system output is 398 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque. Land Rover claims a pure electric range of up to 31 miles, along with a 0–60-mph time of 6.3 seconds. And because the electric motor is mounted within the ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the pure electric drive is even available for low-range off-roading.

The Range Rover P400e has a 7-kW onboard charger that, when connected via the standard 10-amp home charging cable, will fully recharge the battery in 7.5 hours, according to Land Rover. An optional 32-amp wall box and multifunction cable, available from Land Rover dealers, will reduce charge time to just under three hours. Illuminated strips either side of the charge port allow a quick visual check of the battery’s charge status, but owners can also monitor remotely it via an app on their phones.

Drivers can leave the hybrid powertrain to shuffle between electric and internal combustion power to meet load demands, or they can actively manage the battery’s state of charge. When a destination is entered into the nav system, the P400e’s electronic neural network factors in traffic conditions, the gradient of the route, and whether it’s operating in a rural or urban environment to deliver the most efficient combination of power modes. Alternatively, selecting Save mode via the central touchscreen ensures the battery will always have enough charge to allow the P400e to operate in pure EV mode for a specific segment of their journey.

Sounds good in theory, but how does it work in practice? Surprisingly well, as it happens.

The PHEV powertrain is well suited to the relaxed demeanor of Range Rover. In pure EV mode—which it will maintain up to 85 mph—it delivers almost Rolls-Royce levels of waftability around town. In hybrid mode, you can hear the engine fire up if you listen for it, but in reality, the transitions between the electric motor and the internal combustion engine are impressively smooth and seamless. The e-motor’s instant-on torque—203 lb-ft at zero rpm—effortlessly gets the 5,448-pound Range Rover off the line and adroitly shoulders the load to help out the engine once the big SUV is underway.

The PHEV powertrain is the best application yet of JLR’s gas turbo-four, an engine not especially noted for smoothness and silence in other Jaguar and Land Rover models. If they’re really concentrating, occupants might detect a little vibration when the engine fires up, and full throttle will deliver a distant, muted growl. But most would be hard-pressed to tell you what sort of engine is actually under the hood. What’s more, when left to its own devices, the little four-banger punches above its weight, coping surprisingly well with the Range Rover’s mass.

Although it’s a hybrid, it still has a Sport mode, which engages the electric motor all the time to help deliver maximum performance and allows full manual control of the eight-speed automatic via paddles mounted on the steering wheel. No matter which way you drive it, however, the P400e feels quicker, more responsive, and more refined on the road than the V-6-powered gas or diesel Range Rovers.

Off-road, the EV mode, selected via a button on the center console, works brilliantly, especially in low range. Land Rover has recalibrated its acclaimed Terrain Response system to work with the electric motor, and that instant torque means you can be extremely precise with the throttle, carefully tip-toeing the big Rangie over major obstacles.

Even a klutz can take this hybrid luxury limo places few other SUVs dare go. The air suspension can be jacked up a maximum of 3.0 inches, it’ll safely wade through 35.4 inches of water like every other Range Rover, and with JLR’s Low Traction Launch software now on board, it will effortlessly pull away from a standstill on slippery surfaces such as wet grass, loose gravel, and snow.

In Europe the PHEV powertrain is available across the Range Rover lineup, including long-wheelbase models. For U.S. buyers, however, it comes only in the standard-wheelbase Range Rover and in HSE trim. (A PHEV version of the Range Rover Sport HSE will also available in the U.S. in 2019.) Pricing is competitive: At $96,145, the P400e is an attractive alternative to the regular six-cylinder $95,045 HSE or the $97,045 HSE diesel models. Overall drivability is better, particularly in terms of a perceived luxury feel, with the added benefits of decent fuel economy and smooth, silent, zero-emissions motoring in city centers.

On top of all that, you get a bunch of worthwhile upgrades that come with the Range Rover’s 2018 model year refresh, from the subtle exterior tweaks to an interior that looks noticeably more upscale and lavishly equipped. Luxury SUVs might be everywhere these days, but the supremely elegant and capable Range Rover remains the segment benchmark.

Professional Car Concierges Make Car Buying Easy,

Paul Maloney.

President of Car Leasing Concierge

Jeffry Melnick didn’t want the hassle and anxiety of shopping for a car when he set out to buy one last year.

“When they say to me, ‘Do you want to look under the hood?’ No,” Mr. Melnick said. “No, I don’t.”

So he hired someone to do his haggling for him.

Mr. Melnick, a semiretired theatrical agent who lives in Palm Springs, Calif., called Authority Auto, a car-buying service based in Tarzana, and told it what he wanted — and what he wanted to pay..

 • But finding a negotiator can be tricky. There is no standard name for these services — some call themselves a buying service, others a negotiating service, some a broker, still others a concierge. Each seems to operate in its own way.

 • Paul Maloney is a New York-based former fleet director with an Australian accent and a snappy line of patter. He calls his business the Car Leasing Concierge, www.carleasingconcierge.com although he handles new-car sales as well. He sends clients to a dealership with a free worksheet, then, for a fee, he will assess the deal to see if he can beat it. His is a tiered service that tops out with his assessing your deal and handling your purchase for $297.

new_logo_ad_1142018.png

Oren Weintraub, a former car salesman, owns Authority Auto. The services say they can protect consumers and save them time and money.

Mr. Weintraub, a former car salesman, said he worked with buyers from start to finish. He will help them choose a car and negotiate the sales price, finance rate, and aftermarket products like service contracts and wheel and paint protection. He works nationwide and charges $600 to $1,500, depending on the cost of the car. For an additional $300 he will also sell the client’s old car.

Greg Macke, who calls himself “Your Car Angel,” helps clients pick a car, arranges a test drive, negotiates the purchase and accompanies the buyer to a dealership. He even inspects used cars. But he accepts only clients who live near Los Angeles for his $750 service.

You might think dealerships tremble at their approach, but the negotiators — who said they helped with between 125 and 1,000 purchases a year — say that is not the case.

“We buy so much merchandise from them that we are an asset to them,” said Greg Pence, manager of car-buying services for AAA Carolinas, whose in-house service buys about 1,200 cars a year. He said dealerships liked that the professional negotiators closed deals quickly, “usually within a good 30 minutes or so.”

The negotiators compete with services like TrueCar, which don’t charge the consumer but do charge the dealers — who may pass the cost on to the consumer.

Michael S. Freeman II, the executive manager of Sunset Chevrolet Buick GMC in Sarasota, Fla., said the average profit on a car was 2 percent. On a $30,000 car that would be $600. TrueCar, he said, charges a fee of $300 for each new car sold on a referral.

“When we get someone from TrueCar, we have to cut a check,” Mr. Freeman said. “That is factored into the price.”s

TrueCar is the technology behind 500 buying services, like those of publications like Car & Driver and U.S. News and World Report, and companies like USAA and Sam’s Club. The dealers get their referrals from TrueCar, which displays prices from its member dealerships and allows prospective buyers to compare the out-the-door cost for the vehicle they want. That eliminates haggling — for better or worse.

The details of how a dealer reaches the price that TrueCar displays are complex, said Veronica Cardenas, a spokeswoman for TrueCar, but “it’s not a race to the bottom.” She added, “The idea is you are getting a competitive price.”

There are competitors that charge dealerships a modest monthly fee, such as Costco and CarGurus, which dealers said gave them more room to discount. (Sometimes, getting the very best deal comes from buying at just the right time. Dealers receive bonuses based on sale quotas, meaning they might give bigger discounts if they’re trying to hit a benchmark.

All New 2019 Rav-4 Redesign 1st Look!

2019 Rav4 Car Leasing Concierge

Has the RAV4 finally become not boring? Certainly appears so.

For years, it was the Camry sedan that brought customers in droves to Toyota dealerships. However, times change and today the crossover rules while the sedan has been pushed aside. When it came time for Toyota to completely redesign its long-running and hot-selling RAV4 crossover, it knew it had to get everything right. The competition is tougher than ever, but Toyota also wanted to expand the RAV4’s appeal. In short, it had to become more manly as part of an effort to lure more male buyers. Has the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 accomplished this?

Let’s find out. The fifth-generation RAV4 could not look more different than the model it replaces, which lacked emotion. It was the refrigerator of crossovers if you will, and yet it was still the best-selling passenger vehicle in the US last year if you don’t count pickup trucks. But just look at the redesigned RAV4; it actually looks far more SUV-ish. The all-new sheet metal is quite a dramatic departure from before, with styling directly inspired by last year’s FT-AC Concept. We’d describe the new look as rugged. Note the more aggressive grille, fog light surrounds and wheel designs. The wheel arches have been angled off and are further augmented with black trim.

Car Leasing Concierge 2019 Rav-4

Car Leasing Concierge 2019 Rav-4

From the side, notice the creases beginning on the front doors and continuing through the rear doors to the C-pillar. The rear end continues this chiseled theme which, overall, works very well. At first glance, one could easily mistake the new RAV4 for a Jeep, save for the brand emblem. The 2019 RAV4 comes in three distinct trim levels: Adventure, Limited and XSE Hybrid. Interesting fact: the hybrid is the sportiest of the three when it comes to driving experience. More on that shortly. Riding on Toyota’s highly regarded TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, which also underpins the latest Camry, the RAV4 previously rode on a compact car platform.

The change gives the RAV4 an additional 1.2 inches of wheelbase, slightly higher ground clearance, and a wider track. The wheels have also been shoved to the corners, enabling overall length to actually drop by 2.6 inches. That’s not a bad thing because the 2019 RAV4 now has a firmer, more powerful stance. Remember, more male buyers wanted. Helping to give it extra presence are available 19-inch wheels on higher level trims. Under the hood, the RAV4 comes standard with an all-new Dynamic Force 2.5-liter inline-four with direct and port injection and VVT-iE. This engine is also standard in the Camry, where it develops 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.

Toyota has not released output figures just yet, but expect similar numbers. The old six-speed automatic transmission has been replaced by a new eight-speed gearbox. There are no turbo fours or V6s offered, but Toyota is adamant the new inline-four has class-leading output. For those who want not only improved fuel economy but also a sportier driving experience, there’s the XSE Hybrid. It starts with the same inline-four engine, but it’s connected to a hybrid system, called Toyota Hybrid System II. Official EPA figures have yet to be released. Once again, Toyota is confident the XSE Hybrid will have class-leading efficiency. One rumor claims it will achieve a 600-mile range.

The new RAV4 is also the first TNGA vehicle to receive optional (standard on Adventure and Limited trims) all-wheel drive. It’s actually a pretty trick system called Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD with Driveshaft Disconnect. It sends up to 50 percent of engine torque to the rear wheels when needed, and can properly distribute that power to the left or right rear wheel for even better handling. The rear driveline disconnect feature allows for the AWD to be disabled when it’s not needed, with power instead of going to the front wheels only, thus improving fuel efficiency. There are two other AWD systems available on lower trim levels: AWD-ion the hybrid, and the non-dynamic torque vectoring system for the straight up gasoline-engined RAV4s.

As previously mentioned, XSE Hybrid promises to offer the sportiest driving experience of the three. Yes, really. Toyota went above and beyond here, equipping the XSE Hybrid with a sport-tuned suspension with tauter shock absorbers and springs. Toyota also wisely moved the battery to under the rear seat, which removed the cargo area “hump”, thus creating a flat floor and class-leading cargo capacity. Some very much welcomed styling highlights the XSE Hybrid’s sportier nature, such as standard two-tone exterior paint with black accents on the lower rocker panels, mirror caps, fog lamps, front end, and wheel arches. Those interested in off-roading, the RAV4 Adventure is for you.

It comes standard with high-rise roof rails, large over-fenders and those 19-inch wheels for a more outdoorsy look inspired by the Tacoma pickup. It also has a Multi-Terrain Select system that gives drivers the ability to maximize traction when driving through snow, mud, sand or rocks. A simple dial located in the center console controls those settings. Anyone seeking a more luxurious and refined experience will seek the RAV4 Limited. It also features those 19-inch wheels, but also comes with chrome accents, leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way lumbar, a 7-inch multi-information display, and optional ventilated front seats and a panoramic roof.

2019 RAV4

2019 RAV4

All RAV4s are equipped with Toyota’s Entune 3.0 multimedia system located in a 7-inch touchscreen on top of the center stack. An 8-inch screen is optional. Both Apply CarPlay (no Android Auto?) and WiFi are also standard fares. There are a total of 11 speakers connected to the JBL sound system. The new interior is without question a step above the previous model. Everywhere you look you get the immediate sense of high-quality materials and splendid fit and finish throughout. Ergonomics have been improved, and headroom increases for second-row occupants. The third-row option has been eliminated. Toyota claims increased towing capacity as well, though no figure has been given. The outgoing RAV4 was capable of 3,500 pounds.

Standard safety includes eight airbags, pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert with steering assist, and the new lane tracing assist. Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 adds automatic emergency braking with nighttime pedestrian and daytime cyclist detection, along with lane keep assisting with Lane Tracing Assist. The manual parking is replaced by an electronic parking brake with full-speed dynamic stopping. Toyota has not announced 2019 RAV4 pricing, but don’t expect a big increase over the outgoing model, so figure a base price around $25,500. Gasoline-powered RAV4s will go on sale at the end of this year while the hybrid will hit the market in early 2019.

2018 Best 5 Compact Utility Vehicles!

2018 Best 5 Compact Utility Vehicles for everyday use, Sun, Snow, Surf, Shopping!

March 19, 2018 by Car Leasing Concierge.

Not long ago, utility vehicles were commonly associated with high gas expenses and environmental concerns. However, as gas prices climbed, the Goliath's (RIP, Hummer) were outpaced by the Davids, the small, fuel-efficient car segments.

Now, consumers are shifting their preferences again, this time toward a cross between the Davids and Goliath's, Compact Utility Vehicles (CUV's). This rising segment marries the practicality of passenger cars with the utility of SUV's resulting in a top choice for many car buyers. CUV's are perfect for everyday commutes during the week and weekend adventures for small families. Although these vehicles are compact, they ride higher than sedans, making them easy to get in and out of and especially easy to lift kids out of car seats. With spacious cargo capacity, these utility vehicles tend to hold more than traditional sedans. Read on to learn more about the top 5 searched CUV's for 2018.

UnTrue-Car Websites or Car Telemarketers? Sell Your Information For A Profit!

 • Today it’s great to be able to have all these new car Apps and Websites available when you're in the market to buy or lease a new vehicle. But what most consumers don’t know is that 95% of these websites are linked to work in with car dealers. They all come across as your free friendly information center that supposedly helps you get the best deal possible when shopping for a new car.

 • Unknowingly, the customer is completely unaware of what's about to come their way. Let me break it down so you can understand how this magic show full of illusions works, and how you end up paying for that so-called "Free" service.

 • Once they have your information they send it to every dealership in your area hoping to get a sale. Before you know it, you’ll be bombarded with so many emails and phone calls you’ll think you have your very own fan club in the worst possible way. In return, 95% of these sites get a commission back from the selling dealer.

 • Car Dealerships sign up and pay these sites to get your information, then on top of that they get paid an additional commission, usually around $500 if they finalize the sale. So in actuality-- and I really want you to think about this-- you’re paying a site to take your information for what you thought was a free service and give it to car dealerships that then pay them a commission. How do you think these sites stay in business?

 • I know this for a FACT. I used to work for one of the largest dealer franchises in the Greater New York Tri-state area as a Fleet Director. At the beginning of each month these sites would ask us for the new price sheets with their commissions already packed into the price.

 • How many times a day do you see on the internet-- especially FaceBook-- asking you to enter your email, phone and zip code?

fake email address.png
 • Almost all dealerships have an Internet Department that signs up for these referral services. Believe me, you’ll end up with so many calls and emails, you’ll almost have to take on a new identity just to get rid of them! When a deal is complete the car dealer pays the vendor the fee they signed up with to get the information you entered.

Car Sites That Get Paid by Auto Dealers for Your Information!

 • CarMax

 • Edmunds

 • Kelly Blue Book

 • Cars Direct

 • Un-True Car

 • Cars.com

 • Auto-Trader

 • Cars Direct

 • The list goes on and on...

 • It’s quite funny, actually, watching these sites and Apps come up with new ways to try and lure people into believing all you have to do is order here and take this number to the car dealership. You're thinking, "Oh, wow that was easy!" Or even better, they give you a buyer’s certificate to show when you arrive at the dealership. That certificate you go in waving around is like a red flag to a bull. The only difference is they charge you in a different way.

Nice to meet you sucker!

 • The numbers they give you are about as useful as a one legged man in an ass kicking competition. They can only give you a working number, then you're on your own! Some companies now go as far as quoting exact payments.

Nice to meet you Sucker, I mean, "Sir."

Nice to meet you Sucker, I mean, "Sir."

Fact number 2

 • No one can quote you an exact payment without you filling out a credit application and submitting it to the bank for an approval just like the dealerships. So be careful who you give out your information to with these new online apps.

Flood Damaged Cars - How Deep Do Car Insurance Companies Go?

Car Leasing Concierge opens the floodgates about Car Insurance Coverage on Flood-Damaged Cars!

car flood 2017 001.jpg

Many car insurance companies have been flooded with calls and emails after Hurricane Harvey and Irma that left many customers asking, is my car covered for flood damage? and how deep do insurance companies go to declare it a total loss?

 • State laws and your insurance company's guidelines dictate how a vehicle is determined to be a total loss. You must have comprehensive insurance coverage for your car to be repaired or replaced after flood damage. You will owe your chosen deductible.

In general, a car is determined to be a total loss when:

 • It's so severely damaged it cannot be safely repaired.

 • It costs more than the worth of the vehicle to repair it.

 • Or, if the amount of damage or cost of repairing the vehicle is too much, according to state regulations or the insurer's guidelines for a total loss.

 • Typically, cars are "totaled" when the cost of repairs to fix the vehicle is higher than the vehicle's actual cash value (ACV). However, in some cases, it's not practical to fix a car, even if the cost to do so is less than the ACV. In that case, insurance company guidelines and state laws come into play when determining whether the car is totaled or not.

 • Insurance companies calculate the “total loss ratio” or “damage ratio” (cost of repairs divided by the actual cash value) when determining whether a car is totaled. This ratio is then compared to limits either set by the company itself or by state law.

 • Some states dictate how high this damage ratio needs to be to declare a car totaled. This is referred to as the Total Loss Threshold (TLT). To total a car, the total loss ratio must exceed the established TLT percentage. If the TLT is not dictated by the state, your insurance company will generally use another formula, known as the Total Loss Formula (TLF) which is: Cost of Repair + Salvage Value > Actual Cash Value. If the sum of the repair cost and the salvage value is greater than the ACV, the car can be declared a total loss.

 • A damaged 2007 Toyota Corolla with 105,000 miles in good condition with an approximate value of $5,000. Total repair costs are $3,600, for a damage ratio of 72 percent. This car would be considered a total loss in Indiana, where the TLT is 70 percent, but not in Oregon where the TLT is 80 percent. In California, the TLF would be used and, if the salvage were worth $1,000, the car would not be totaled ($3,600 + $1,000 < $5,000).

 • These states use the TFL formula and rely on licensed appraisers during the process: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, and Washington.

These states have the following TLT threshold mandated by law:

 • Alabama 75%

 • Arkansas 70%

 • Colorado 100%

 • Florida 80%

 • Indiana 70%

 • Iowa 50%

 • Kansas 75%

 • Kentucky 75%

 • Louisiana 75%

 • Maryland 75%

 • Michigan 75%

 • Minnesota 70%

 • Missouri 80%

 • Nebraska 75%

 • Nevada 65%

 • New Hampshire 75%

 • New York 75%

 • North Carolina 75%

 • North Dakota 75%

 • Oklahoma 60%

 • Oregon 80%

 • South Carolina 75%

 • Tennessee 75%

 • Texas 100%

 • Virginia 75%

 • West Virginia 75%

 • Wisconsin 70%

 • Wyoming 75%

Your car insurance company can have its own internal guidelines that "total" a car, and that may be at a lower threshold than your state's TLT. However, an insurer can't have its own threshold set for a higher amount than the state. "For instance, in Florida, the state TLT is 80 percent, but if your insurer's own guidelines say to total a car at 75 percent, they can do that," but the insurer can't have a TLT at, say, 85 percent because that would be against the law."

Does car insurance cover flood damage?

 • In some cases, your car insurance may pay for damages when your car sustains water damage and isn't totaled. Here's how the different types of car insurance coverage come into play if you're caught in a flood:

 • Comprehensive insurance -- If your vehicle sustains water or flood damage, you can file a claim under your comprehensive insurance coverage, which covers any type of damage to your car up to its actual cash value that's caused by natural disasters instead of accidents.

 • Collision coverage -- Collision comes into play if you hydroplane and flip your car or hit another car or a tree. Your claim will pay to repair your car or will pay the actual cash value of the car. You do still have to pay the deductible whether the accident was your fault, someone else's or caused by the storm.

 • Gap insurance -- This type of insurance comes into play if your car is totaled and you owe more money on your car than it's worth -- gap insurance will pay the difference. "For instance, if you owe $15,000 on your car loan but your car is only worth $12,000, gap insurance will reimburse your lender for the extra $3,000. You can get gap insurance from your car insurance company or from your car financing company, but it's usually more expensive from your lender.

 • Rental car reimbursement-- Depending on your situation, rental reimbursement coverage is a wise choice or a waste. If you have a second car or a way to get where you need to go without your car, you don't need rental coverage, she says. But if you'd be left stranded for weeks while your car is being repaired, it may pay to have it. "Rental reimbursement coverage is optional and pays you a certain amount of money per day or per week for a rental car to drive while your car is being repaired.

Car Leasing Concierge. Unveiling Mercedes AMG Project ONE. Supercar

Car Leasing Concierge. The new Mercedes AMG Project ONE supercar.

In a predictably dramatic fashion, Mercedes-AMG has released its long-awaited F1-derived hypercar at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Lewis Hamilton was at the wheel of the AMG Project One, coaxing the hybrid hypercar out onto the stage to much applause.

Although the teaser silhouettes of the car gave a hint towards an LMP-style front end, it turns out that the Project One is in fact more akin to a more generic hypercar than once thought. The front profile of the car has something of the Noble M600 about it and the lower vents scream Ferrari 360.

The cockpit is conventionally placed instead of the Le Mans car styling that was once presumed. The presumption was that the AMG would have extremely short overhangs (much like the Porsche 919 Hybrid) but instead its proportions resemble (if anything) a Porsche 918 Spyder.

The looks may seem a little underwhelming but the stated performance certainly isn't. The combination of the 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 derived from the Mercedes Petronas Formula 1 car with four electric motors amounts to a total power output of over 1000hp. That power then gets the car from 0-200kph (124mph) in under 6 seconds and will see it reach over 350kph (218mph).

The engine has been developed and manufactured in AMG's plant in Brackley, UK and the electrical motors and batteries on board give the car a 25km in all-electric mode. The power plant has been stated to achieve 40% thermal efficiency in comparison to 33% often achieved by standard internal combustion engines.

To further the surge towards efficiency, two of the four electric motors are found on the front axle, both of which can be used to recuperate 80% of braking energy to be recycled and stored in the car's battery packs.

Mercedes-Benz have produced some fairly outlandish cars in the past like the McLaren-Mercedes SLR and the CLK GTR, but the Project One will be a tectonic shift in the performance car landscape. Although the Aston Martin Valkyrie looks to be a bit more F1-orientated in terms of looks, the performance claims from AMG mean that the Project One can truly have the tag as 'an F1 car for the road'.
